The Bucket List Shot.
This photo is, without a doubt, my most cherished capture. I had long dreamt of taking a shot of the village of Reine from the summit of Reinebringen in Lofoten, Norway, as the sunrise broke over the horizon, casting its warm glow on the village and surrounding mountains.
In the heart of autumn, my friends and I set out to get this shot. Waking up at 3am, we drove two hours to reach the trailhead of the Reinebringen hike. Fueled by enthusiasm, determination, and a heavy amount of coffee, we climbed the mountain in darkness, persevering through every weather condition imaginable to arrive at the summit just in time for the sunrise.
Once we reached the summit, the sun had not yet risen, so we waited, hopeful for a beautiful sunrise. Autumn in Lofoten is known for its unpredictable weather, leaving us uncertain if we would even get a good sunrise. As we held onto hope, rays of sunlight started to peek through the clouds, emerging from the horizon over the ocean. The golden light illuminated the village of Reine and the snow-capped mountains, and there it was – my bucket list shot.
The photograph came out better than I could have ever imagined, preserving a moment I'll never forget.
